Gmail on Android
Android Gmail often uses desktop-configured signatures or a separate plain-text mobile signature.
Before you begin
- Copy the latest formatted signature from Memo - Use Copy latest signature before pasting into your email client.
- Use a supported desktop browser for rich paste - Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge usually preserve formatting best.
Steps
Step 1
Install on desktop first
Use Gmail web settings when possible for formatted signatures.
Step 2
Select the correct account
Open Gmail settings and choose the right account.
Step 3
Review mobile signature settings
Check whether Mobile signature is enabled separately.
Step 4
Avoid duplicate signatures
Disable a conflicting mobile-only signature when desktop sync should apply.
Step 5
Copy plain-text fallback if needed
Use Copy mobile text signature when rich formatting is unavailable.
Step 6
Send a test message
Confirm the signature on a new message and on mobile display.
Known limitations
- Many Android signatures are plain text only - Use the plain-text fallback when rich formatting cannot be installed reliably.
Verification checklist
